· Graduated from the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) State University in 1966.
· PhD degree in 1975, “Japan and the United Nations.”
· Representative of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Soviet Academy of Sciences in Soviet Embassy in Japan, 1979-1983.
· Leading researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-Director (1994-1998)
· President of the Russian Japanologists Association, 1994-1998.
· Member of the official delegation, State Visit by President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev to Japan, April 1991.
· Member of NEACD (Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue, consisted from Japan, China, ROK, Russia and the U.S., leading institution: IGCC, UC San Diego) from 1993 through 1999.
· Visiting professor of the Hosei University (1996-2001), teaching Japanese policy in Asia Pacific, Visiting Professor at the Hitotsubashi University (1997-1998), Special visiting professor at the Keio University (1999-2000) teaching “Russia during Yeltsin's era.”
· Current position: Professor at the Postgraduate School, Department of Law, Yamanashi Gakuin University.
· Publications: books, parts of books and articles on Russo-Japanese relations, Japan's foreign and internal policy, international relations in Asia Pacific, chapters in monographs on the Japan’s history.
· Current publications on the history of Russo-Japanese War.
